Mukokotutaneous Kandidiasis

Mukokotutaneous Kandidiasis

Definition

Mukococutaneous candidiasis is a fungal infection that can hit almost all surfaces of the skin and body mucosa. Mukosa is a layer of moist mucus membranes that coats all body cavities and channels exposed to the outside environment, such as oral mucoce, mukosa in the urinary tract, etc.

Infection candidiasis Mukokotutaneous is most often caused by Candidate species mushrooms, especially Candida albicans. Infections can occur in any part of the body and most often occur in skin folding, genitals, mouth mucosa, and nails. These infections are basically limited to the surface of the skin, and do not have too much tendency to spread widely in the body.

Mucococutaneous candidiasis can be chronic or last for a long period of time and is recurrent, so it is also referred to as chronic mukococutaneous candialysis. Candida mushrooms are normally found in mucus skin and membranes, and in general these mushrooms do not cause a health problem. In mukocotutaneous candialysis, it is suspected that there is an immune system disturbance to the Candida fungal species, which causes infection.

Cause

Candidiasis mukokotuaneus is caused by Candida fungi infection. Candida mushrooms themselves have about 150 species that have the potential to cause infection. However, the species that most often cause infection are Candida albicans, responsible for about 70 to 80% of all Candidate infections. Other species that also cause infection include Glabrata Temple, Tropicalis Temple, Krusei Temple, and Candida dubliniensis.

Candida itself is a fungi that is actually harmless and normally found in the skin and membranes of human mucus. However, this fungal growth can increase if it is influenced by moisture, heat temperature, and disturbances in the immune system of the skin and the body. Healthy skin that does not experience injuries will continue to experience skin regeneration (substitution of dead skin cells with new skin cells), thus becoming an effective initial protective against infection. Inevitability of the immune system, especially in the skin, can affect the balance of microorganisms in the skin and cause infection.

The chronic mukococutaneus candidiasis is caused by disorders in the immune system. This is related to various syndromes and genetic disorders, where there is a tendency for genetic mutations inherited in the family which results in a decrease in the function of immune cells in the fight against infection. Mukococutaneus candialysis is also associated with certain health disorders, such as thyroid gland disorders, parathyroids, diabetes mellitus, and dynasis disease (adrenal gland hormone deficiency). Infection Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) can also appear with chronic mukokotuaneus candialysis.

Risk Factors

Basically, Candida is harmless and does exist in mucus skin and membranes. Several factors can affect the growth rate of mold and disrupt the balance of microorganisms in the skin, causing infection. Factors that can increase the risk of Candida infection include:

  • Hot and humid weather
  • Often use tight clothes
  • Bad skin hygiene
  • Rarely changing diapers in babies and children or rarely changing underwear in older patients
  • Changes in the balance of microorganisms in the skin due to the use of antibiotics
  • Having certain skin diseases, such as psoriasis which can cause inflammation of the skin
  • Suffering from obesity
  • Having a declining immune system can be caused by:
    • The use of corticosteroid drugs or other immunosuppressive drugs (immune system suppression)
    • Being pregnant
    • Suffering from diabetes
    • Suffering from HIV/AIDS disease
    • Having hormonal-related disorders, such as Cushing (man's hypophysis glands produce too many ACTH hormones), pulsational disease, or a lack of thyroid gland hormones.

Symptoms

In general, the symptoms of Candida infection are in the form of a fairly intense itching or burning feeling, especially around the vagina and anus. The appearance of the skin column appears to be red in the interior of the body's folding, such as the groin and interbog gap, under the breast, in the mouth corner, between the fingers, and around the navel. Around the rash there may be another smaller rash.

In mucus membranes (mudges), white spots may be found. Candidate infections in the nails can develop after performing an incorrect maniur and in kitchen workers and other people whose hands are constantly exposed to water. In people who are fat, Candidate infections usually occur under the folding of the stomach. Candidate infections in the oral cavity are a common sign of the decrease in the immune system. The chronic mukococutaneus candialysis usually affects nails, skin, oral cavity, and throat.

In recurrent or longstanding conditions, the candialysis of chronic mukocutaneus is characterized by a red, convex, and thickened rash that resembles psoriasis, especially on the nose and forehead, and is accompanied by symptoms of candialysis in the oral cavity.

Symptoms of mukokotutaneous candidiasis can vary based on the location of infection, such as:

  1. Itching and red rashes are firmly bounded on body skin folding
  2. Lecet on the white skin and accompanied by itching in Candida infection in the anus
  3. If the infection is in the vulva and vagina, it can arise:
    • Itching, burning, or irritation around the vagina and vulva
    • There is a thick white liquid, such as cheese attached to the vaginal wall
    • A red rash can appear, swelling and abrasions around the vagina
  4. In the Candida infection on the nails, it can arise:
    • The swelling on the edges of the nails that looks red and painful
    • Separation of nail tips from nail pads with a change in white or yellow color
  5. In the orofaringeal candialysis (in the oral cavity and throat), a white layer appears on the mucus membrane of the mouth which may bleed when peeling off
  6. On perl\"eche or candialysis that occurs in the corner of the mouth, cracks can arise and small gaps in the corner of the mouth, this condition can be caused by a habit:
    • Licking the lips
    • Riding a thumbs up
    • The use of counterfeit teeth that do not fit
    • Other conditions that make the angle of the mouth moist enough so that the fungus can grow

Diagnosed

In diagnosing mukokotutaneous candialysis, doctors will start by conducting interviews with you. Doctors will ask some questions, such as:

  • Symptoms You Experience
  • How long the symptoms have been felt
  • Wherever the location of the rash arises
  • Other health history, includes a previous Candida infection history, a history of use of certain previous drugs, and a history of other diseases that may be suffered

Furthermore, the doctor will conduct a physical examination by looking directly at the state of the skin and rash that arises. The diagnosis of mucococutaneous candidiasis on the basis can be enforced based on the results of interviews and physical examinations. However, to further confirm the diagnosis, doctors can perform additional examinations in the form of an examination by solution of Kalium Hydroxide (KOH). In this examination, the doctor will take a skin sample with a slight combing skin with a rash. Then the skin sample will be tested with a KOH solution and checked under a microscope to find the presence of Candida mushrooms in the skin sample.

Laksana Procedure

Mukokotutaneous candidiasis therapy can generally be done by preventing a moist and warm atmosphere around the body that is affected, for example by not wearing strict clothes, often replacing the principal or underwear if it is wet, avoiding contact with excessive water, etc. In addition, doctors can also prescribe anti-tambal drugs that can be in the form of oles (salaps, creams) or drugs they are taken. The choice of doses and types of anti-tamurs used depends on the location of the Candida infection, how widely the infection is, and whether the new conditions appear or have been going on for a long time and are repeated.

Complications

Candidiasis mukococutaneous complications that occur quite often are repeated infections in the future. In patients with a declining immune system, there can be the spread of Candida infection throughout the body through blood vessels. In addition, secondary infections can also occur by other bacteria, for example respiratory tract infections or additional skin infections due to bacteria Staphylococcus aureus.

Prevention

Some of the steps you can take to prevent the emergence of mukokotutaneous candidiasis, among others:

  • Use underwear that absorb sweat
  • Use loose clothes
  • Avoid bathing with too hot water
  • Change clothes if wet
  • In women, if you clean your genitals, always clean them from the front to the back
  • When you are menstruating, change your capacity or sanitary napkins as often as possible
  • Control blood sugar levels if you have diabetes
  • Use antibiotics only if necessary and according to a doctor's prescription
  • Take care of your mouth with your brush twice a day and diligently gargling
  • Clean the phaul regularly

When Do You Have To Go To A Doctor?

Often rashes due to fungal infections are difficult to distinguish from other skin diseases for ordinary people. Consult yourself to a doctor if you experience itching and rashes that lead to Candida mushrooms infection. Doctors will help you in diagnosing and providing proper treatment.
