Air pollution has recently become an increasingly hot topic of discussion. If left unchecked, air pollution can have adverse health effects, such as respiratory disorders, cardiovascular disorders, effects on the brain and mental health, chronic diseases, and negative effects on the respiratory system and immune systems of children who are still developing.

In addition to wearing masks, and avoiding direct exposure when pollution is high, the use of air purifiers is one of the recommended ways to maintain health from exposure to air pollution. What are the benefits of an air purifier, and how does it work? Check out the discussion in the following article.

What is an Air Purifier?

An air purifier is an electronic device designed to clean indoor air from contaminated particles, such as dust, pollen, bacteria, viruses, air pollutants, allergens, and odors.

It can help improve indoor air quality, especially in areas with heavy air pollution. You can also use this tool if you have allergies or respiratory problems.

Benefits of an Air Purifier

The main function of an air purifier is to improve the quality of air that is breathed daily indoors. Air that has been contaminated with dust, smoke, pollen, bacteria, viruses, or other pollutants will be cleaned by filtering so that the air returned to the room is cleaner and safer for the nose and lungs to breathe.

There are several benefits of having an air purifier in your home or office, including:

  • Helps reduce the amount of allergens such as pollen, animal dander, or dust mites that are in the air, which can alleviate symptoms of seasonal allergies or other respiratory problems.
  • Helps eliminate cigarette smoke, odors from cooking, and other unpleasant odors in the indoor air
  • Promotes better air quality that can reduce the risk of developing respiratory diseases and maintain lung health
  • Reduces exposure to pollutants that can potentially increase the risk of respiratory disease and cancer
  • It is important to note that an air purifier is not a substitute for ventilation. Good ventilation is also essential for fresh air circulation and optimal air quality indoors. Whereas an air purifier is just a useful device that helps achieve the benefits of maximized quality air.

How an Air Purifier Works

The basic principle of an air purifier is to suck in air and pass it through a filtration system to remove contaminated particles such as dust, pollen, viruses, dust mites, bacteria, and other pollutants before returning clean air to the room.

With advancements in technology, each air purifier comes with different filtration systems, such as HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filters, activated carbon filters, and so on.

When passing through the filter, particles of a certain size will be trapped and caught in the filter. After the filtration process, clean air will be returned to the room and filtered again so that the air quality in the room is maintained.

While many air purifiers claim to filter pollutants down to 0.3 microns, they cannot remove all pollutants from the air. So proper ventilation is also important to have in a home or office space.

Also, it is important to consult a doctor or environmental expert to understand the need to have an air purifier device in your living or working environment. They can help make better decisions regarding the use of air purifiers. If you need medical advice or consultation, you can either visit a doctor or make use of the consultation features that are available in the Ai Care application by downloading the Ai Care application from the App Store or Play Store.
