Causes of introverted personality

Scientists are uncertain about the primary cause of introverted or extroverted personalities, but they do know that the brains of these two personality types work somewhat differently.

Researchers have found that genetics and upbringing influence introverted personalities, shaped by how the body reacts to the outside world.

Signs of an Introverted Personality

In general, some signs indicate that someone has an introverted personality, including:

  • Feeling drained of energy whenever you are around a lot of people
  • Enjoying time alone
  • Has a small group of close friends with whom to share many things, from the trivial to the personal
  • Other people find it difficult to guess what the person's personality is like
  • Often unfocused when in the middle of a busy day
  • Has a high level of alertness
  • More often, learn from personal experience
  • Prefer to write rather than speak
  • Often use imagination to solve problems
  • Take longer to make decisions
  • Work better alone than in a group

Being an introvert does not mean one is shy

Introverted individuals should not be confused with shy people, although the two are often associated. While introverts may have a smaller social circle, it doesn't necessarily mean they are shy or unable to engage with others. They simply prefer to spend their time in a more introspective manner, contemplating their thoughts before speaking or taking action.

Shy people feel uneasy and uncomfortable speaking with others and may avoid social situations. They may also lack confidence and feel anxious in social settings, making them hesitant to perform or speak in public.

Introverts are a personality, not a disability or something to be changed. Everyone has a distinct way of interacting with the world around them.
